Being Social Secretary alongside George is a role and responsibility she is genuinely excited to embrace. She’s enthusiastic about creating an inclusive and welcoming environment where every squad member feels valued, connected, and involved. By organizing a variety of events throughout the season—ranging from casual get-togethers to more structured team socials—she hopes to strengthen the bonds within the team and make space for everyone to unwind, have fun, and build lasting friendships. George Na Nakhorn
Social Secretary

George is a second year History student at Durham and joined from Deben Rowing Club last year. He spent the majority of his first rowing in the Men’s 3rd VIII and as part of this boat he competed in events such as Tyne New Years but his highlight was competing in his first BUCS event - BUCS head. Unfortunately picking up an injury at the end of the head season meant he missed all of the summer racing but he continued to train with the squad throughout the year and hopes to kick on next year injury-free.

Together with Imo, George wants to create a strong and inclusive culture within the team which promotes a work-hard play-hard mentality and which will hopefully translate into better performances on the water. Our key goal for the year is to integrate the newcomers as quickly as possible into the team and create a strong bond between everyone, regardless of age and previous rowing experience.
