The first race of the New Year, run in partnership with Tyne United RC and DUBC, Tyne New Years Head is an opportunity to implement all the hard work and training the club undertakes during the back end of the previous year and winter training camp.

Crews take to the river Tyne, racing along the course starting from Scotswood, past the notorious Scrap Yard corner, onto the Blaydon Straight, and then the home straight, past Newcastle Uni Boatclub and DUBC/TURC, to Newburn.

Behind the scenes, DUBC team members who aren’t racing in a division help with timing and collating the results.

The proceeds from the event go back to the club – this year, £1630.40 was raised! A fun day had for all, and a date highly anticipated by the club in the calendar year. For more event information, visit the TURC website: http://www.tyneunited.co.uk/index.php/events/turc-new-years-head
